World Cheese Awards 2022

World Cheese Awards, the most important international competition dedicated to cheese, was held on November 2nd in Newport, Wales. This event, that brings together producers, retailers, buyers and gastronomic experts from all over the world, saw the participation of over 4,000 cheeses from 42 countries, selected by a jury composed of professionals in the sector.  
Parmigiano Reggiano was the most awarded cheese of the competition and members of Caseifici Granterre, who participated with the National Parmigiano Reggiano Team, won 10 of the 93 medals awarded for this PDO:
1 Super Gold Medal was won by Parmigiano Reggiano over 40 months from Caseificio di Gavasseto;
2 Gold Medals were awarded respectively to Parmigiano Reggiano over 40 months from Caseificio di Gavasseto and to Parmigiano Reggiano aged over 22 months from Caseificio Riolo;
3 Silver medals were won by Parmigiano Reggiano over 30 months from Caseificio Casello Acquaria and Parmigiano Reggiano over 30 months and over 40 months from Caseificio Cà Vecchino;
Finally, 4 Bronze Medals were won respectively by the Castelnovese Dairy Cooperative and Latteria Sociale Nuova 2000, both for Parmigiano Reggiano aged over 40 months, and by Caseificio Val Nirano, both for Parmigiano Reggiano aged over 22 months, and for maturing for over 30 months.
Great satisfaction also for the Asiago Dop Fresco Riserva of our dairy member Latterie Vicentine, which won a Silver medal and a Bronze, bringing to 12 the total medals won by the PDO cheeses candidates from Caseifici Granterre.
